| |

With Kawasaki mounted Tom Sykes being quickest of all the Superbike riders at the last official testing before the racing starts at Phillip Island this Sunday, and Kenan Sofuoglu stealing second place in World Supersport ahead of Fabien Foret, also on a Kawasaki ZX-6R, things look promising for the weekend. Our own Sheidan Morais is also flying the Kawasaki flag high, having posted the 8th fastest Supersport lap over the two days. Sheridan's spent much of the time learning the track, that he's never raced on before, and optimising setup for Sunday's battle.

Jan 31 2012: Kawasaki's Teryx 4 four-seater almost here!
| |

When Kawasaki’s guys in white coats set about developing a four-seater version of the popular 4X4 Teryx Recreation Utility Vehicle (RUV) they started from a good base. The existing Teryx for two is a well-proven vehicle that won the RUV class in both the Baja 500 and Baja 1000 desert races by formidable margins in its first attempt in 2009 and in standard format is much loved by farmers hunters and other people who needed to cross the roughest territory imaginable without delay. The boffins didn’t simply tack a couple of brackets onto the existing two-seater Teryx chassis to bolt an additional two seats to though. They went right back to the beginning and developed an all-new derivative – the Teryx 4 - that could convey four adults swiftly comfortably and above all safely across the roughest terrain imaginable. |

Jan 20 2012: Versys 1000 will be here in February

It would have been short-sighted of Kawasaki to not develop a bigger more powerful version of their very popular Versys motorcycle. The 650cc twin-cylinder model first launched five years ago is a surprisingly brisk middleweight twin that can scurry around corners with the best keep up with bigger bikes on the open road at all but insane speeds and comfortably accommodate a rider and a pillion for hours thanks to its adventure bike-like styling. Its 19-litre fuel tank and frugal habits allow it to cover long distances without wasting time or money and the styling and finish is generally considered to be superb. Now after years of rumours a litre-class version of the motorcycle has been launched in Europe and will be here in February.
